  • Während des Typografie-Unterrichts scribbelte ich eine Kombination aus der „Like-Hand“ und Ausrufezeichen sowie die Buchstaben a, c und b. Als ich später am Kopierraum vorbeikam, probierte ich, die mit meinen Händen geformten Buchstaben mithilfe des Kopierers auf einer 2D-Ebene einzufangen, indem ich sie auf die Glasoberfläche presste. Daraufhin experimentierte ich so lange, bis ich für jedes Zeichen eine lesbare und formbare Konstellation gefunden hatte. Nach einigen schmerzhaften Handverrenkungen und ca. 400 Kopien hatte ich die Schrift vollendet. Der Schrift ­­­– wie sollte sie auch anders heißen – gab ich den Namen Handschrift.

    Sitting in typography class I scribbled a combination of the "Like-Hand" and an the exclamation mark as well as the letters a, c and b. When I passed the Copier-Room later that day, I tested my hand-formed characters by pressing them on the glass oft the photocopier, receiving a 2D image. Then I experimented until I had a legible and pliable hand form for each character. After several sometimes painful hand twists and about 400 copies the typeface was completed. The name of the font originates from the German word for hand-writing.
